Travel on the R27, the West Coast Road, for approximately 140kms from Cape Town until you reach Velddrif, then follow the signs to the Bergrivier Golf Club. Designed by the members in 1985, the nine hole course is very flat and wide open and the fairways lead to good bent grass kikuyu greens. The rough is really made by sandy lies and veld and the test is made more challenging by the coastal winds that are regularly in attendance. It has a par 70 rating. Dress code is smart casual, with golf/soft shoes and visitors are welcome every day. The course is not difficult to play and there is a practice range, a driving range, bar, restaurant and caddies for either 9 or 18 holes. This beautiful part of the West Coast offers many attractions as a popular holiday and weekend resort for the discerning traveller. The area offers some of the best birding on the West Coast, as well as great seafood, fishing and other water sports and the delights of the nearby Rocher Pan Nature Reserve, a freshwater lake that is home to many species of bird, animals and plants, an absolute pleasure after the first heavy winter rains.
