Langebaan Country Estate Golf Course langebaan country estate

Located on the unspoiled Cape West Coast, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town, the newly redesigned Langebaan golf course – located on Langebaan Country Estate – is a welcome addition to the golfing landscape.

Langebaan is a very special place, and the location of the 450 hectare Langebaan Country Estate is pretty unbeatable. In the heart of the charismatic West Coast, near the legendary Langebaan Lagoon, whatever your pleasure – sports, sun, adventure, nature, culture, gastronomy or just plain relaxation – you are perfectly positioned. The fact that it is all just one hour’s drive from Cape Town is the crayfish on the platter!

In its spectacular setting, the course plays 6359m from the championship tees (6994 yards), 5826m to 6071m from the club- and senior tees, and 5202m from the ladies tees with an overall course rating of 71.In its beautiful setting next to the renowned West Coast National Park, Langebaan Country Estate offers an exceptional living experience at all levels. The homes, townhouses and lock-up and go apartments showcase green living and embrace the rich history of the area. Extremely environmentally conscious and concerned, the Estate has safeguarded the indigenous and rare vegetation. Its secure and green environs make this the perfect setting for a superb golf estate.

Langebaan Golf CourseDespite the relative youth of much of the course, its condition is superb – particularly the winding fairways which make their way through the estate layout, offering some spectacular views of the Langebaan Lagoon and Saldanha Bay harbour. The large and well-designed greens complexes, in particular, feature strongly in the design of the course. At over 6 000m, one is unlikely to be fooled into thinking that it is a short course and when the wind gets up it will put paid to any misconceived notion that this might be a holiday knock-about design.

1st Hole
The first hole is a stroke one, Par 4, 358m. With the West Coast’s prevailing South Easter blowing straight at you, a tunnel of Manatoka trees as well as a large fairway bunker to the right at the 150m marker, anything off the fairway means getting on for two will prove difficult.

6th Hole
With 360 degree views of the lagoon and course, the 6th hole (145m par 3) has a fynbos area which needs to be carried before reaching an elevated green. This hole is the highest point of the course giving you a breathtaking outlook on the course and the whole of the estate. Even having a bad hole would still leave you smiling at the end of this one!

11th Hole
Shaped water features and unique shell waste bunkers on the right of the 11th hole (par 3 stroke 18), along with a huge green makes this an easy scoring hole.

18th Hole
Standing on the tee box of the 18th with a backdrop of the newly renovated clubhouse could end in tears if you tee off with a driver. Good course management is a must to finish our challenging 18th.Spectacular golf at langebaan

19th Hole
Other golf courses refer to the bar as the 19th hole, but at Langebaan Country Estate we enjoy adding another twist to the tale with our actual 19th hole (and we have a superb bar!). The unique 19th hole is lit up by flood lights all the way to its green on the centre island of the water feature in front of the clubhouse. Golfers are encouraged to try this fun challenge to raise funds for several social upliftment programmes, making this hole really special.

The 18 holes at Langebaan Country Estate are user friendly for the low to mid handicapped players and those who are only starting off.

Having a bad day on course will be forgotten after experiencing the friendly and welcoming West Coast hospitality in and around the clubhouse of Langebaan Country Estate.
