Het Vlock Kasteel

het vlock kasteel - Wine and Olive farm

Only an hour's drive outside of Cape Town, the beautiful Riebeek Valley is known for its award winning olive oils and wines. With its many country style guesthouses, art galleries, fine restaurants and shops, it provides a cultural respite from city living.

Johan Vlok is the proud owner of Morester farm, which is situated in Riebeek Kasteel. Johan has been farming here for the past 20 years, with table grapes as the main agricultural product. They also produce wine grapes, peaches, nectarines, citrus fruit and for the last five years also olives. Johan’s wife, Ansie, makes the most mouth-watering delicacies from these products. From jams and chutneys, to olive oils and olive relishes, Het Vlock Casteel offers a true country experience in a friendly environment.

Products of Het Vlock KasteelSituated on the farm Môrester, in the beautiful fertile valley of Riebeek-Kasteel , Het Vlock Casteel derives its name from the castle-like building near the entrance to the farm. This building conjures up thoughts of the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town and is the hub of activity for the processing of the wide range of produce available at the farm shop.

Owner, Johan Vlok, graduated from Stellenbosch with a B.Sc degree in Viticulture and Oenology. His Wife, Ansie, has a B.Sc in Food Science. The wonderful selection of fruit grown on the farm combined with Johan and Ansie's expertise provides for some very interesting results, both on the farming side as well as the production side.

Olive products from Het Vlock KasteelAn olive press, where the farm's olives are pressed for oil, as well as the farm's wine cellar is also located here. With future plans for a restaurant with breathtaking views across the valley, the castle is set to become a well known attraction to tourists visiting the region.
Produce are sold under the Het Vlock Casteel label and consists of a very interesting collection of varieties and recipes.

Olive Oil is one of the main lines of produce, with the choice of six different varieties, including a unique lemon flavoured olive oil. Olives, with interesting bottled varieties such as chilli, lemon, smoked and Shiraz are favourites amongst visitors to the farm's shop.

Other produce available include wine, jams, chutney and dessert-toppings. Gift baskets in various sizes are also available.
