About JacobsbaaiAuthenticity, culture, these are the words that come to mind when thinking of Jacobsbaai. Situated midway between Vredenburg and Saldanha Bay, Jacobsbaai is an isolated, traditional Cape West Coast Village. Spending time here has the effect of reminding one of the things which are important and lasting in life. It was a passion for this that prompted the building of Jacobsbaai and which carried it through to being a West Coast success story. Strict building restrictions have created an authentic, historic West Coast feel and look in the town and have helped to preserve the breathtaking 2 kilometers of coastline, boasting 7 individual bays and lime washed houses against an azure blue sea. Most of the roads are gravel roads which keeps traffic at snails pace and which has resulted in a peaceful little resort town, ideal for a weekend getaway or relaxing holiday. As far as nature is concerned like the rest of the West Coast, it has to be the spectacular spring wildflowers (Aug - Oct) that first come to mind, But the rocky outcrops, apart from being just plain beautiful, form dramatic focus points within the ocean while the boulders along the shoreline offer interesting vantage points. Here there is no lifestyle pollution * Visual - no factories or squatter camps * Audio - no noise besides the waves * Health - no odours or smoke, just the fresh air Jacobsbaai is a development that successfully captures the renaissance of a lost West Coast charm. Boating, fishing and diving are the main activities with coastal hiking trails and dune riding are not far behind. For the less active, the area provides perfect opportunities for Whale and Bird watching. Apart from all these, the main activity at Jacobsbaai will always remain rest and relaxation. The town is well known for its abundance of seafood and its magnificent dislay of wild flowers that transforms the lanscape of this West Coast paradise every year from late winter to spring. (July to September).Jacobsbaai's seven individual bays are Kwaaibaai which is popular with surfers, Jacobsbaai, Smalbaai and Moerie se baai which are great for launching boats and Bamboesbaai and Toothrock are used for diving, fishing and cray-fishing. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy boating, fishing and diving and for hikers there are coastal trails and dune-riding is a favourite with the more adventurous. For the less adventurous, Jacobsbaai is popular for whale watching and bird-lovers will be rewarded with an abundance of birdlife found in this unspoilt resort town.
