Klawer Cellarklawer Cellars

From th Matzikama Mountains on the eastern horizon to the life-giving Olifants River in the west, Klawer's mild winters and fresh unspoilt country air allows our winemakers to craft wines of singular quality and outstanding character. The region's rich soil, south facing slopes and cool night breezes add depth and appeal.

Klawer Cellar was founded in 1956 as a co-operative for this small farming community. Initially a bulk cellar, for years Klawer sold its wines on to other companies, who then bottled and resold them under their own labels.

Klawer Cellar vineyardsDue to the high quality of the wines produced, the stock began selling out year after year. As the 21st century dawned, we realised it was time to select our best vines and sell their produce under the Klawer Cellar label.

Our dynamic young management team ensures that only the very best of our wines are bottled under the Klawer Cellar label. Selection begins in the vineyards, where the best grapes are selected for separate harvesting. The wine is then hand-crafted by our winemakers and aged in barrels begore being bottled. Each bottle of Klawer Cellar wine is a product of our rich tradition and passion.

It has been traditionally renowned for its range of white wines. However, a growing demand for red wine has brought about a significant increase in the plantind=g and harvesting of red grapes. Today Klawer Cellars is meeting that demand by processing about 41 Making the wines at klawer Cellarstons of grapes annually.
