The Bushman's Cave Mountain Theatre

The Bushman's Cave Mountain Theatre is at the foot of the Cederberg, about 35 km outside Clanwilliam. The venue is situated on Oude Muur which belongs to Erik and Melinda de Milander.

Danie Niehaus, a personal friend of the family had the visionary idea, a few years back, to present an open air theatre there.

When they all put their heads together, the idea began to take shape and the end result is that something quite out of the ordinary was born and many of the country's top artists have appeared there.

At Bushman's Cave you also have the opportunity to camp overnight in a site with full ablutions and delightful open air showers between the rocks.


The farm also offers 4 x 4 routes and even abseiling is available though the outstanding indigenous plants, with a selection of fynbos are a treat for the eyes.

The Table Mountain Sandstone rock formations have to be seen to be appreciated.

Food is prepared in the open air kitchen wherethe delicious roosterkoek and fresh bread straight out of the outdoor oven are always a highlight.


Any artist who features here will remember the occasion for the rest of their lives. The accoustics are outstanding and this together with good music makes the evening anunforgettable outing wher the journey is well worth it!!
